Suggestions for an October Traveler

I'm pretty lucky that my company is flying me out to Tokyo in October to do some work with our Japan offices. I'm even luckier that I was able to secure my flight for a few days prior to working so I can explore the city.

I'll be on my own arriving late Oct. 8 and "leaving" Oct. 12 for business time. My fun time is staying at a hotel in Shinjuku/Kabukicho. I'm aware that Kabukicho is the "red light" area and that doesn't bug me at all. In fact, it makes it all the more interesting.

If anyone can suggest a gig/club to check out during this time, I'd be very grateful. I can go solo or even meet up with some people as well.

I used to work at RollingStone.com back in the day and my music tastes tend to go toward the indie/alternative route. However, my tastes can sometimes go anywhere depending on the vibe. Sometimes I feel like a Shonen Knife/5,6,7,8's day. Other times its Electric Eel Shock, Guitar Wolf or The King Brothers. Then again, Towa Tei or Cornelius can take me someplace.

In any case, any and all suggestions would be much appreciated.
