New site design!

by craig

So, finally TokyoGigGuide has had a much-needed upgrade. Hopefully it's now easier to use and better-looking.
It's largely thanks to the guys over at Asoboo. All shows I list on TokyoGigGuide will also appear on the Asoboo events section. Asoboo is a newish international social network site focussing on creative people and Japan.
So feel free to give me any suggestions or comments about the new design. Also, if you email me details of a gig, it would be helpful if you could include a link to a picture..

Become a Tokyo Gig Guide Blog team member!

by craig

I received a great suggestion from Dan over at Bug Powder Dust that I should open this blog up to anyone who has something appropriate to post here.
So, any readers out there who would like to post a gig review here, or anything else related like a record review, photos or info about Japanese music, please let me know and I'll make you a guest so you can post entries here yourself.
It could be a one-off post, or beter still, it could be a regular contribution.
What you'll need to do first, is to make a blogger profile, but that's quick, easy and free.
Then let me know your email address by commenting here or sending me an email, I'll email you an invite, you accept, and voila, you'll be the newest Tokyo Gig Guide Blog Team member!

myspace

by craig

although myspace has a lot of obvious faults, it has become a good way to find new music.
so if you want to see some profiles and hear some samples of japanese bands, have a look at the friends of the tokyo gig guide myspace.

happy new year

by craig

2007 is going to be the year of tokyo gig guide, i swear.
not only is there this new blog, but there will be other changes and improvements. i have just fixed up the links page (what a mess that was), more venues and bands will be added, and i'm going to try to make the gig guide more comprehensive. also, if i have time or if one of the people who have offered to help do, the site will be redesigned. so hopefully it will become less of a 90's lo-fi scrollathon and more of an interactive attractive site. perhaps even bilingual (perhaps i should become more bilingual first..).
there is one way the listings could be more comprehensive, and that is for you dear reader(s) to volunteer to contribute! there must be lots of good music out there that i overlook. so if you know a bit about any specific scenes, say neo-asakusa-kei psych or something, please email me some info.
