In addition to Bennett-Kuroda's musical offerings, each installment of Tokyo Song Celebration features a special guest performer, chosen from Tokyo's rich pool of musical talent, or visiting artists passing through.
There is NO cover charge, entry is FREE to the public.
The venue is a stylish and comfortable spot, with a focus on fine coffee (some delicious baked goods may also be available) but also featuring a full bar, including craft beer, wine and liquors. Notable also is that there are 3 separate rooms within the venue: the main room (where the music will be happening) as well as another totally separate room on the same floor with tables, couches and chairs, and yet another third room, just up a spiral staircase, with additional lounge-ability. It's possible, then, to move into another area should you want to take a break from the musical performances and chat with friends. A nice flexibility.

FRI 5/17 : Matt Gillan
Some of you may know Matt Gillan from his deep New Orleans style PIANO playing in Samm Bennett's New Orleans rhythm'n'blues combo King Cake Baby. But Matt wears many musical hats, and one of them, actually you might say his MAIN musical hat, is the traditional music of Okinawa. He is a masterful player of the three-string sanshin, the foremost of the Okinawan traditional instruments. And his singing of Okinawan folk songs is absolutely superlative. This is a rare chance to hear Matt display his formidable talents in this unexpected musical area!
And in addition to Matt's joining the TSC goings-on on this evening, Bennett-Kuroda is thrilled to have none other than Jeff Curry joining on upright bass, for the first and the third sets. Jeff is quite simply one of the finest bassists in Tokyo, and will be bringing a deep, steady pocket and a compelling propulsion to the Bennett-Kuroda sound.
