SHINPEI RUIKE(tp)

Born on April 27, 1976, in Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture.

At the age of 10, he encountered the trumpet in a brass band. In high school, he was introduced to Miles Davis's music and became interested in jazz. After graduating from high school, he played trumpet for six years in the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force Band.

After retiring from the Self-Defense Forces, he made his major debut in 2004 as a member of the jam band group 'urb' under Sony Jazz. He gained attention by performing at the Thailand International Jazz Festival.

After 'urb' went on hiatus, he led his own unit, 'Ruike Shinpei 4 Piece Band.' They released their first album, 'DISTORTED GRACE,' in 2009. The second album, "Sector b," was released in 2011 under the production of Naruyoshi Kikuchi. After a member change, it became 'RS5pb (Ruike Shinpei 5-piece band)', and in 2013, they released the live album '4 AM' from T5Jazz Records. In 2016, they released their second album "UNDA" as RS5pb. In 2018, he performed at the "OCT-LOFT Jazz Festival" held in Shenzhen, China. Many young people from China who gathered were thrilled by its sound. In 2020, they released their third album under the band's name, "RS5pb."

Additionally, in 2019, they released the album "Lady's Blues," featuring live acoustic jazz performances by the quartet. It was recorded live at the long-established jazz club 'Body & Soul' in Tokyo.

In 2014, the duo unit 'N40°' with Joji Nakajima, pianist of RS5pb, released an album under APPLO SOUNDS. He continues to perform regularly and continues to make it his lifelong work.

In the jazz-themed anime 'Apollo on the Slope,' he played the trumpet in the show. He also played the trumpet for Jun's older brother in the later live-action film. He also participated in units led by 'Naruko Kikuchi Dub Sect' and 'DCPRG,' as well as 'WUJA BIN BIN' led by Keitaimo, formerly of 'Beat Crusaders,' and SUGIZO, guitarist of 'LUNA SEA.' He has also participated in recordings for artists such as Gen Hoshino and Sakura Fujiwara. He has performed with many veteran jazz musicians such as Yosuke Yamashita, Fumio Itabashi, Takeo Moriyama, and Isao Suzuki.

GEORGE NAKAJIMA (p)

Born in 1981, from Hachinohe City, Aomori Prefecture. He studied classical piano until high school and grew up listening to J-POP. He enrolled in the Jazz & Pop Course at Shobi Gakuen University. He studied jazz piano under Masayasu Tsuboguchi. He is active in various bands, including his own trio. He also performs with traditional Japanese instruments such as shakuhachi and Japanese drums. In February 2014, they released 'N.40°' under the names Shinpei Ruike & Joji Nakajima. Currently, they are active mainly in Tokyo and throughout Japan.
