“Dislocated Jazz”
Friday 28 August
Centred around keywords such as sound, space, dialogue and silence, this unique collaboration brings together Fumi Endo, a young pianist who maintains a distinctive musical style, and saxophonist Kanon Aonami, alongside Yumiko Tanaka, who plays the traditional Gidayū shamisen—an instrument characterised by its overtones, noise and low frequencies. Together, they will conduct a jazz deconstruction experiment, dislocating the joints of convention to explore a new sonic body. Our aim is not only to surprise you with the thought, ‘That song’s going to sound like that??’, but also to create a world that is simply a pleasure to listen to. We’re also looking forward to the trio’s improvisations?
