Joe Truck, who leads The Black Scorpio Underground, began his music career in 1978 in New York City.
He started playing in various clubs such as Max's Kansas City and CBGB.
During this time, he developed relationships with Michael Gira of SWANS and Peter Missing of Drunk Driving, the band that would later become the Missing Foundation.
One of his most notable activities in the 80's was a garage band called “CHOP SHOP”.
The band's only album, “BAD LANDS,” was recorded in 1985 with Jerry Williams, the engineer for CRO-MAGS and BAD BRAINS, and is now available on Bandcamp. After that, he expanded his base of activities to Los Angeles, USA. A long-time fan of experimental music, Joe formed The Black Scorpio Underground in 2000. He has released a number of releases on his own label, HATE MAIL RECORDS, as well as splits with artists such as T.O.M.B., Macronympha, The Vomit Arsonist, Werewolf Jerusalem, The Haters, and many more.
He is currently making a name for himself as a tattoo artist in LA.
The Black Scorpio Underground is coming to Japan for the first time.

The Black Scorpio Undergroundを率いるJoe Truckは1978年からNYで音楽活動を始める。

Max’s Kansas CityやCBGB等の様々なクラブでバンド活動を始める。

その活動の中でSWANSのMichael Giraや、後にMissing Foundationとなる前進バンド、Drunk DrivingのPeter Missingと現在まで交流を深めていく。

彼の80年代の活動の中で特筆すべきは”CHOP SHOP”というガレージバンドである。

CHOP SHOPはNYにて、SONIC YOUTH、BUTTHOLE SURFERS、SCRATCH ACIDといった強面のバンドと切磋琢磨し、シーンを支えてきた。1985年にCRO-MAGS,BAD BRAINSのエンジニアであるJerry Williamsを迎え作成された”BAD LANDS”という唯一作は現在ではBandcampで手に入れる事が出来る。その後は活動の拠点を米ロサンゼルスまで拡げる。兼ねてより実験音楽のファンでもあったJoeは2000年よりThe Black Scorpio Undergroundを結成。同時期に自身のレーベルである"HATE MAIL RECORDS"を立ち上げると共に数々のリリースを行ってきた。T.O.M.B.やMacronympha、The Vomit Arsonist、Werewolf Jerusalem、The Hatersなど様々なアーティストとスプリットをリリースする。現在はLAでタトゥーアーティストとして名を馳せている。

そのThe Black Scorpio Undergroundが日本初上陸。
