Chilean trio Mareo! mixes the sounds of their home region with splashes of electronic and dance-pop elements to create rollicking songs blurring the line between reality and fantasy. It’s a reflection of the band’s interest in expanding artistic horizons by challenging themselves and seeing what lively new musical intersections they can think of. This approach has helped make Mareo! one of the most exciting young groups in Chile today.
It has also motivated them to explore the world, which has included multiple tours of Japan over the last few years. Mareo! embark on its most ambitious jaunt of the nation this fall, with plans to stay for over a month and play all over the archipelago. It’s a chance for the three to continue their artistic growth…and a way to show listeners in Japan how they’ve changed in recent years.

Mareo! formed in 2018 in Santiago, Chile. The lineup consists of Francisca Silva, Camila Sánchez and Ernesto Duboy. The trio stood out within the Chilean music scene thanks to an eagerness to combine new sonic ideas with Latin Music, revealing new perspectives on the region’s rich musical history. Mareo! has released one album and several singles, most recently with this past August’s skippy “Penita Pena” featuring Vale Castillo.
For the band, Japan has long been an important place. They first visited the country in the fall of 2019, playing 10 gigs while soaking in the culture and sounds around them. They returned in 2022, and are prepped for an even bigger visit starting this October.
Take the South-east exit of Shinjuku station, walk along Koushuu kaidou (The big road. You'll see Tower Records on the left of it and Newoman on the right) until you reach Meiji-dori. Turn right (you should see a Yoshinoya on the corner) and walk along Meiji-dori. Antiknock is on the left hand side in the basement of the Ray Flat building.
