LILLIE CREATURES

LILLIE CREATURES is a super space folk one-girl-band of Austrian origin launched 2020 in Tokyo, Japan.

Otherworldly with a punk-hearted tweak, LILLIE CREATURES synthesize haunting vocal harmonies and pulsating guitar loops into an idiosyncratic micro-orchestra. Combining elements of psychedelic, ethereal wave, tribal folk, eastern, classic, process music and space rock using voice, acoustic guitar and sound effect pedals, her hypnotic and empowering songs evoke the hypnagorical ballad of a slow-motion supernova. Active in Taiwan and Austria between 2020 and 2023, their debut single CHILD was recorded at Faust Studio Records in Prague (Czech Republic) and released digitally and on cassette tape in December 2023.

LILLIE CREATURES（リリー•クリーチャーズ）は、オーストリア出身アーティスト「アンナ•ガブリエレ」による、スペースフォーク（「超宇宙音楽」）のワンガールバンドである。
うっとりさせるような、体に降りかかるようなボーカルハーモニーと、脈を打つようにループするギターサウンドを合成し、特異なマイクロオーケストラ空間、捻りの効いたパンク精神が垣間見られる神秘的な異世界を作り出すLILLIE CREATURES。声、アコースティックギター、エフェクトペダルのみを使い、サイケデリック、エーテルウェーブ、伝統音楽、東洋音楽にクラッシック音楽、プロセスミュージックやスペースロックの要素を複合させてできた、催眠的かつエネルギーを与えるLILLIE CREATURESの音楽は、じわじわと爆発する超新星のような感覚を引き起こす。
LILLIE CREATURESは2020年東京にて活動を開始。2022年にウイーンへ戻る前に台北に拠点を移動し、そこで台湾のアンダーグラウンドシーンに魅了され、精力的にライブ活動を行った。デビューシングルCHILDはチェコ、プラハのFaust Studio Recordsで録音され、カセットテープとデジタル配信で2023年12月1日にリリースされた。

SANTA DHARMA 

Santa Dharma is a wife-husband indie rock/new wave band based in Tokyo. Fusing toy synthesizers, fuzzy electric strings, drum machines, and Buddhist accents, they create lo-fi, dreamy music that resurrects a retro future. The band's name is a combination of Bodhidharma, the founder of Zen Buddhism, and Holly's birthplace of California, where places are often named “San” or “Santa” something. They released their first full-length album in 2021. Their YouTube show, BTV, features indie/experimental artists from Tokyo and around the world.

Santa Dharma は、東京を拠点に活動する夫婦インディー・ロック/ニュー・ウェーブ バンド。 おもちゃのシンセサイザー、ファジーなエレクトリック・ストリングス、ドラム・マシン、仏具のアクセントを融合させて、レトロな未来をよみがえらせるローファイで幻想的な音楽を生み出しています。バンド名は、禅宗の開祖である菩提達磨と、ホリーの生誕地であるカリフォルニアを組み合わせたものです (カルフォルニアの都市はしばしば「サン」または「サンタ」で始まります)。 2021 年に最初のフルアルバムをリリースしました。 自身のYouTube 番組、BTVで、東京と世界中のインディー／エクスペリメンタル・アーティストを特集しています。

SAMI ELU

Sami Elu is a creative musician who has built a mysterious and captivating instrument known as “pixiechord”, formerly “chopstick piano”.

It originated from an experimental approach to creating primitive instruments out of scrap materials, and has developed over the years, becoming more refined to emanate a stable, clear tone. Its design is inspired by existing multi-string instruments such as harp, koto, guitar, dulcimer, or harpsichord. The keyboard utilizes a hammered action resembling that of a piano, and its strings may also be plucked with finger-picks. With an electric pickup, the sound is amplified, producing a rich, full-bodied timbre unlike any other instrument in the world. Sami Elu has been known to play with the pixiechord and foot percussion as a one-man-band street performance.

Much of Sami Elu’s music is rooted in the sounds of simple materials from the natural world. Never confined to a singular genre or sonic pallet, his recorded works incorporate many sounds—synthesizers, sampled objects, accordion, toys, straight up piano, junk percussion, gongs and bells, and all things that spring from pure imagination.

In recent years Sami Elu has worked on collaborations with Kenji Azuma, a multi-instrumental percussionist and improviser with a love for calming nature music, and in the instrumental duo “Celestia” with shakuhachi virtuoso Bruce Huebner. Other recent works have included composition and performance for two theatrical productions with the “Sai No Kuni Shakespeare Series”: Henry VIII (2020, 2022 reboot) and King John (2023), directed by Kohtaloh Yoshida. Sami Elu has also appeared on various Japanese TV programs such as “Ban Ban Japan”, “Hamasaka Ongakubu”, “Burari Tochuu Gesha no Tabi”, and “Design Talks Plus”.

He was born in Boston, North America, graduated from the Berklee College of Music, and received a Master’s degree in composition from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland. He currently lives and works in Tokyo, Japan.

サミエルは、以前の「割り箸ピアノ」と現在の「pixiechord」という神秘的で魅力的な自作弦楽器を発明したクリエイティブなミュージシャン。

原始的な楽器を廃材で作るという実験的なアプローチから始まり、長い年月をかけて洗練され、安定したクリアな音色が鳴るようになった。 そのデザインは、ハープ、箏、ギター、ダルシマー、チェンバローなどの既存の多弦楽器にインスパイアされてる。 鍵盤はピアノに似たハンマーアクションを採用し、弦はお琴の爪で弾くこともできる。ピックアップで音を拾って、世界唯一無二の綺麗な音色を生み出す。以前は大道芸ストリート パフォーマンスとして、ピクシーコードと足パーカッションで演奏することで知られてる。

サミエルの音楽は自然界の雰囲気とマッチしている。ジャンルにこだわらず音の幅が広く、彼の音源作品には、シンセサイザー、サンプルした一般的な物や、アコーディオン、おもちゃ、スタンダードなピアノ、廃材パーカッション、ゴングや鈴など、純粋な想像力から生まれるあらゆるものが組み込まれてる。

近年サミエルはコラボプロジェクトの活動もあり、心を落ち着かせる自然の音楽を愛するマルチインストゥルメンタルパーカッショニスト兼インプロヴァイザーである東憲志とのセッションや、尺八のアメリカ人巨匠ブルースヒューブナーとのインストルメンタルデュオ「Celestia」を取り組んでアルバムをリリースして日本全国ツアーも巡った。「彩の国シェイクスピアシリーズ」の2つの吉田鋼太郎演出の劇場作品、「ヘンリー八世 」(2020年途中中止、2022年再開) とジョン王 (2023 年) の音楽担当として上演した。「Ban Ban Japan」「ハマスカ音楽部」「ぶらり途中下車の旅」「デザイントークスプラス」など、様々な日本のテレビ番組にも出演してる。

北米のボストンで生まれ、バークレー音楽大学を卒業し、スコットランドのエジンバラ大学で作曲の修士号を取得した。 現在、日本の東京に住んで働いてる。
