Australian musician, Marty Holoubek is quickly becoming a prominent fixture in the Tokyo music scene. Having been one of the most in-demand musicians in Australia, Marty has moved to Tokyo to work in the incredibly vibrant music community and to collaborate with the local talent here in Japan.

Graduating from The Elder Conservatorium in Adelaide and Monash University in Melbourne, Marty has been nominated for many awards including the coveted “James Morrison Jazz Scholarship” and the “Freedman Fellowship Award”. He has had much professional experience performing with celebrated international artists such as Jim O’Rouke, Dave Douglas, Kenny Werner, Lulo Reindhart, The NAK Trio, Leroy Jones and Wycliffe Gordon as well as celebrated Australian artists David Campbell, James Morrison, Kate Ceberano, Emma Pask, Paul Grabowsky, Tony Gould, Allan Browne, Scott Tinkler, Aaron Choulai and Julien Wilson.

After a brief trip to Japan in 2015, Marty returned in 2016 and 2017 to build on the connections with local musicians and immerse himself in the local scene. During this time, Marty has performed, recorded and toured with Japanese artists such as Terumasa Hino, trumpet player and vocalist Toku, saxophonists Akihiro Nishiguchi and Akihiro Yoshimoto, pianists Kuribayashi Sumire and Takahashi Yusei and drummer Ishiwaka Shun. Currently a member of The Lagerphones, Sex On Toast and Shun Ishiwaka’s Songbook Band, Marty has a strong interest in developing the relationship between the Japanese and Australian music scenes.
