Konus Quartett (from Switzerland)
http://www.konusquartett.ch/quartett/quartett-english/
Fabio Oehrli (soprano & alto saxophones), Jonas Tschanz (alto saxophone), Christian Kobi (tenor saxophone), Stefan Rolli (baritone saxophone)

As a chamber music ensemble whose instrumentation changes frequently, the Konus Quartet engages its audience with highly expressive and idiosyncratic sounds. Contemporary original compositions are interpreted predominantly by the quartet, but these are also contrasted with pieces from past centuries and arrangements for saxophone instrumentation. The radical nature of its concert programmes has seen the quartet become established over the past 10+ years as an important voice for new contemporary and experimental music.

Christophe Charles + Cal Lyall

http://www.subvalent.com/cal-lyall/

Christophe Charles (born in Marseille - France, 1964) works with found sounds and makes compositions using computer programs, insisting on the autonomy of each sound and the absence of hierarchical structure.
Graduated from Tsukuba University (PhD, 1996) and Paris INALCO (PhD, 1997) with dissertations about media arts in Japan, Charles teaches practice, theory and history of media arts, focusing on sound, performances and installations.
He has released music on several CD labels (Mille Plateaux, Subrosa, Murmur Records, etc) and has permanent sound installations at Osaka Municipal Housing Information Center and Tokyo-Narita International Airport. He has collaborated with composers (Henning Christiansen, Shiomi Mieko), media artists (Yamaguchi Katsuhiro, Yamamoto Keigo), and performers (Ishii Mitsutaka, Kazakura Sho).

Cal Lyall explores the possibilities of traditional forms in urban contexts while incorporating influences ranging from minimal drone to ecstatic improvisation. With an active performance schedule in Japan and past tours through Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Indonesia, China, Korea, Australia and the US, he also heads up the Subvalent record label and oversees the Tokyo Hub of Jolt Sonic Arts (Australia).
Involved in the arts scene in Japan for over twenty years, he has organized large-scale performances involving both Japanese and overseas artists, while also remaining a key member of a number of musical groups which have toured both locally and internationally. His musical activities are documented on over 30 albums he has both produced (including three full-length compilations released on medama records in Japan) and contributed to as a writer or musician.
