SICKNESS (a.k.a.Chris Goudreau)

SICKNESSはChris Goudreauが1988年に始めたハーシュ・エレクトロニック・プロジェクトである。
今年で活動25周年を迎えるこのプロジェクトは、ストレートかつ、全身全霊の純粋なハーシュノイズとして登場した。
絶え間ないループ、シートメタルのクラッシュ音や、鋭い電子音/フィードバックによる素早いカットアップに塗れたハーシュノイズの堆積は、他にはないサウンドであった。
また、SICKNESSは、常に新しいアイディア・視点・ゴールを持ち、新しい機材を取り入れることによって、進化/変化し続けている。
現在ではモジュラー・シンセサイザーとラップトップを用い、膨大なカットアップにホワイトノイズの爆発、クラックル音によって静寂を断ち切るようなセットをプレイしている。
このようなセットは、常に到達点を踏まえた上で入念に構成され、かつ即興的なセッティングによりプレイされる。
SICKNESSは傍観して聴くような音楽ではない。繰り返される音へとリスナーをどんどん引き寄せる、もしくは無理やり押し込むようなサウンドである。
そしてSICKNESSは今までアメリカ、日本、ヨーロッパなど幅広くツアーを行い、彼の代名詞である、純度の高い極悪なハーシュ・エレクトロ・サウンドはRRR, Hospital Productions, Troniks, Gods of Tundra, Groundfault, Self Abuse Records等のレーベルから世界中でリリースされている。
Chris Goudreau、SICKNESS、OMEI（アンビエント・ドローン・インダストリアル）のどの名義であっても、彼はリスナーを予測できない場所へと連れて行くようなサウンドを目指している。

SICKNESS, started in or about 1988 as the harsh electronic project of Chris Goudreau. Now in its 25^th year, it began as a straight-forward, full blast, harsh electronic purity; SICKNESS was a contrast and collection of harsh noise filled with quick cuts between sources, hard rapid fire loops, sheet metal crash and sharp electronics/feedback. SICKNESS has always developed and changed to accommodate new ideas, new equipment, focus and intent. Currently using a modular synth and laptop, SICKNESS current sets are punctuated silences filled with cut up sounds, burst of white noise, and crackle. The pieces are carefully constructed and controlled in an improvisational setting, always with a goal or destination in mind. SICKNESS’s sound is not a sit back and listen experience. It’s active seeking to push, pull or shove the listener into the theme of each piece. SICKNESS has toured extensively in the US, Japan, and Europe bringing his own brand of harsh electronic purity and scumbag electronics to the world with releases on RRR, Hospital Productions, Troniks, Gods of Tundra, Groundfault, Self Abuse Records and others. Whether working as Chris Goudreau, SICKNESS or OMEI (ambient drone industrial) the aim is to the move the listener to unexpected places.
