Edmund Oak solo

Edmund Oak from Denmark is formed around composer and singer Jonatan Bengta and follows in the singer/songwriter tradition of folk music, but also takes inspiration from Chet Baker, Ethiopian jazz and experimental genres.

Debut album "Queen Odea Escapes" was recorded late at night over a 12 months period in one of the most famous churches in Copenhagen and released by Minimum Records in 2008.

As one of the most unique Danish records in 2008, it combines melody and beautiful atmosphere, with unusual instrumentation such as cello, bells, gongs, Hawaii-guitars and choir.

In 2009, Edmund Oak is up to something new, black and crispy. With a bunch of wild and fresh songs, elk-horns and a spring-tour of Japan, the singer/composer/moonbird, Jonatan Bengta, is beating, running, slurping and chewing like never before...

Details

Started in February 2006, Nana Hari ( 七針 / .ftftftf. ) has been offering its space as a showcase for painters, sculptors, photographers, illustrators, musicians, dancers and many other types of artists to present their works to the public, especially to the other artists, and encouraging mutual support and information exchange. The activity is briefly following the principle of alternative space or artist-run initiatives, yet has been reforming to confront the present scene.

3 minute walk from Hatchobori station on the Hibiya line.
