MEDICINE BONE is the blues/roots & branches duo of Samm Bennett (vocal, drums) and Ken Shima (vocal, guitar). Their mutual love of Mississippi Hill Country blues (Fred McDowell, Junior Kimbrough, RL Burnside, etc) originally brought them together back in 2009, and they were active in Tokyo through 2011, developing, refining and expanding their sound, bringing in new influences and original ideas all along the way. But when Ken Shima took off for LA for other life pursuits, the band was put on hold. Now Ken is back in town for a short while, and they've reignited the band for a series of shows in Tokyo: September 6, 7 and 8. These will certainly be the only MB shows for 2012 and 2013 is still a question mark, so come on down to one or all, for a sampling of songs both new and old, in the classic Medicinal style.
Samm and Ken love the friendly, casual and lived-in atmosphere at Bright Brown. It's Nakano's premier blues spot, and MB is delighted to be coming back to perform there! There'll be two sets, and maybe three, depending!
