MICHIYO YAGI TALON
Fronted by the internationally renowned koto virtuoso Michiyo Yagi, the koto quartet Talon makes a rare appearance at the Shinjuku Pit Inn. Featuring Michiyo Yagi’s original compositions and boasting a unique sound that incorporates improvisation, traditional Japanese vocal music, and electronics, Michiyo Yagi Talon is forging a new future for traditional Japanese music.
Michiyo Yagi: electric 21-string koto, electronics, vocals
Maki Isogai: 13-, 21- and 17-string kotos, vocals
Hiroko Takahashi: electric 18-string bass koto, vocals
Eden Okuno: 13- and 17-string kotos
NOTE: This performance was initially planned as a release event for Talon's debut album "Izayoi." At very short notice "Izayoi" was picked up by an international label and is now scheduled for a 2027 release. For those fans who were looking forward to purchasing "Izayoi," we offer apologies and a chance to pick up advance copies of Michiyo Yagi's long-awaited ambient jazz CD "Hyperborea" (featuring the electronic guitar orchestrations of the incredible Eivind Aarset), scheduled to be released later this year. Plus, for the first time, we'll be selling Michiyo Yagi Talon T-shirts!
