miu mau / 光分解 / The Ratel

This event is both a release party and a last-chance-to-see (at least for a long while) for art-pop/post-punk trio Miu Mau, whose cassette single Motif 21 was released earlier this year.

The band are joined by 光分解 (Hikari Bunkai) who spin out deranged explosions of jazz-skronk with varying degrees of improvisation and instrument-swapping, like a teenage post-punk King Crimson. Also joining are The Ratel, who craft multi-layered and intricately beautiful music drawing on alternative rock and post-rock traditions in a unique and musically sophisticated way.

DJs Amigo3 and Ian Martin will be spinning tunes between bands. Meanwhile, Matt Ashton from London's wonderful The Leaf Library, who provided two terrific remixes for the Miu Mau cassette) has crafted a beautiful pre-recorded DJ mix to open the proceedings.
