【来日】Håvard N. Funderud, Daisuke Fujiwara: 藤原大輔

Håvard N. Funderud is a Norwegian guitar player, composer and improviser. Some might know him from the band Master Oogway, who has been touring in Japan a few times. Now he’s coming back to Japan with his solo project called «Every day I’m expected to play the guitar at a reasonable level». The electric guitar is often associated with the rock history, and has taken the role of an iconic instrument in this context. Does this historical context make it difficult for guitar players to create thir own and personal artistic expression? In his solo project, Funderud explores this question through a pure sound-approach to his instrument. This results in a number of different musical references, among others noise and free improvisation.

1970年生まれ。1996年にバークリー音楽大学卒。ジョージ・ラッセルが提唱したジャズ理論のリディアン・クロマチック・コンセプトの教員ライセンスを取得。1997年「phat」結成。２枚のアルバムをBlueNoteよりリリース。その後「quartz-head」名義でエレクトロのシーンで活躍。芳垣安洋/drumsのOrchesta Libre、市野元彦/guitarのrabbitooなどのセッションに参加する。現在は文学作品をテーマにした自身のアコースティク・トリオ（井野信義/bass、外山明/drums）や、山本達久/drums、坂口光央/keyとの「禁断の翼棟」を中心に活動。
