Born in Hamada City, Shimane Prefecture.

He specializes in a wide range of performances from traditional styles such as Dixieland and swing jazz to modern jazz styles, and is one of Japan's leading jazz clarinetists. With his advanced technique and unique expressiveness, he continues to captivate many audiences. He pursues the possibilities of jazz clarinet and is characterized by a performance style that fuses tradition and innovation.

He is also the leader of the clarinet big band "BLACK PIED PIPERS", a unique orchestra composed entirely of clarinet. In addition, he has produced clarinet big bands all over Japan, and has launched "SENDAI PIED PIPERS" in Sendai, "NANIWA PIED PIPERS" in Osaka, and "Qshu PIED PIPERS" in Fukuoka, expanding the circle of clarinet lovers and jazz fans.

In addition, he led the combo-style bands "Hideo Masuda Swing Quintet" and "Hideo Masuda Modern Quintet" and conveyed the charm of jazz with a variety of formations. In addition, he has successfully held many concerts in the big band "Hideo Masuda and the Swingmaid Orchestra", which he is the leader, armed with overwhelming musical power and sophisticated ensembles.

Especially during the Corona disaster from 2021 to 2022, many big band concerts were held. While live activities were restricted, they continued to perform in various forms, including online, and succeeded in increasing the number of big band fans. His work has given hope to many people who believe in the power of music even during the coronavirus pandemic.

Currently, in addition to performing all over the country, mainly in Tokyo, he is also active as a teaching staff member at the Yamaha Music School. In addition to being involved in the production of teaching materials and the composition and arrangement of music, he is also committed to training Yamaha instructors nationwide, and is passionate about teaching the next generation.

Through these wide-ranging activities, he aims to further spread the appeal of clarinet and jazz.

This has led him to work extensively as a performer, producer, and educator, and continues to have a profound influence on the jazz world.
