Join us for “Cosmos and Rainbows”, a luminous evening of harmony and color. Vocalist/pianist Chizuru Matsunaga leads a trio with Jiro Nagano on sax, flute, and clarinet, and Takehiko Sozono on guitar and vocals. Their melodic journey unfolds in seasons: from gentlest breezes to the blooming of cosmic color. Tonight’s special guest is Kimihiro Sadakuni, whose voice adds another layer to the night’s palette.

Artist Introductions

Chizuru Matsunaga (vocal / piano, from TRY-TONE)
A core member of the acclaimed a cappella ensemble TRY-TONE, she composes and arranges original works blending jazz, pop, folk, and traditional song. Her voice carries clarity and emotional nuance; her compositions evoke gentle narratives that resonate across generations. 

Jiro Nagano (sax / flute / clarinet)
A multi-woodwind artist celebrated in Tokyo’s jazz and collaborative circuits, Nagano’s phrasing is lyrical and full of color. He has joined Matsunaga in past trio formats and brings expressive depth to ensemble performances. 

Takehiko Sozono (guitar / vocal)
An artist with a dual voice and string presence, Sozono provides harmonic support and vocal interplay. His sound complements the lyrical first voices with warmth and structural balance.

Kimihiro Sadakuni (guest vocalist)
Formerly a founding member of TRY-TONE and vocal bass specialist, Sadakuni studied at Berklee after pivotal work in Japan’s choral and harmony world. He has contributed arrangements and vocal direction to many top artists and ensembles.
