kayuki Yagi / pianist
Born in Kyoto Japan.
He listened to Jimmy Smith's organ and became interested in jazz. At the age of 18, he started playing the jazz organ.
He later became a pianist, forming a trio and starting playing at a local jazz club. After that, he studied under Walter Bishop jr., Ronnie Mathews, Barry Harris, Norman Simmons, Frank Hewitt, and others in NY, and experienced many sessions with various musicians to deepen his music.
He participated in Artist in Residence and studied under composer Frederick Tillis.
He won the Grand Prize in the solo category at the 24th Asakusa Jazz Contest in Japan.
He appeared on the Japanese national radio program NHK Session, Yokohama Jazz Promenade and other venues .
He has also performed in South Korea, Hong Kong and China.
He performed with Ben Williams (B) Rodeny Green (D) Jay Anderson (B) Billy Drummond (D) Scott Wendholt (Tp) Ralph Bowen (Ts) on his own recordings.
He has released 13 albums as a leader, and his latest work is a solo flight of all original songs performed on solo piano.

Currently, he is playing in his own trio, mainly in Tokyo.
While Blues and Bebop are rooted in contemporary sound, which is dynamic and lyric, and he is pursing his own style.
