CLOSE ENCOUNTER #16: PETER BARAKAN & MORGAN FISHER "THE LONDON BOYS" in Morgan Salon, Daitabashi (near Meidaimae).
On Friday, June 21 at 7:30pm (door 7pm), Peter Barakan will join Morgan Fisher in Morgan Salon for another special 60s/70s DJ session and talk show entitled “The London Boys.”
Peter and Morgan grew up in North London, about 2 miles from each other. However, they first met in Tokyo in the 90s. For this event they'll revisit those amazing early days of a golden age in music.
Peter Barakan (born August 20, 1951) is a London-born broadcaster who has lived in Japan since 1974. In addition to hosting a number of radio shows, as the presenter of NHK World's "Japanology Plus,'' he introduces Japanese culture to a global audience. Since 2014 he has curated the annual music festival "Live Magic!" and since 2021 his yearly "Peter Barakan’s Music Film Festival" shows music films that he has personally selected. He continues to hold events called "Demae DJ'' all over the country.
Morgan Fisher (born January 1, 1950) is a London-born keyboard player, composer, photographer who has lived in Japan since 1985. Artists he has played with include Mott the Hoople, Queen, Yoko Ono, Yellow Monkey and Haruomi Hosono. Since 2011 he has collaborated with Peter Barakan on various music presentations in museums and live venues. He continues to hold events called "Morgan's Organ" in his cosy, artistic personal studio (Morgan Salon) and elsewhere.
CLOSE ENCOUNTER - a concert series curated by Morgan, giving you a chance to meet artists face-to-face in an intimate space and experience music and art on a more personal level.
ENTRY is 4000 yen, payable at the door (cash only please).

Morgan Salon is just a five-minute walk from Daitabashi Station (only 2 stops by local train from Shinjuku on the Keio Line).
