Close Encounter #11 The 5.6.7.8's LIVE in MORGAN SALON!!!
The 5.6.7.8's are famous for being one of the finest retro-rock bands in Japan. Hollywood film director Quentin Tarantino invited them to play live in his movie "Kill Bill" (2003).
This video has him explain how it happened, followed by two cracking songs by the girls!!!
Soon after, Jack White (White Stripes) became a fan, and not only released their records on his Third Man Label, but also recorded cover versions of their songs. Last year, cult film director John Waters personally introduced them to a huge crowd at his Mosswood Meltdown music festival in California. Their wild, untamed 60s garage sound has endeared them to many fans all over the world. Here's a wonderful chance to see and meet them close-up in the intimate surroundings of Morgan Salon! Morgan Fisher will play vintage keyboards with them on several songs (he has played with them many times before and is known as "honorable #9"!). This will be a truly rocking Saturday Night!!!

The 5.6.7.8's(ザ・ファイブ・シックス・セブン・エイツ、通称:ゴロッパチ)は日本屈指のレトロロックバンドとして有名です。 ハリウッド映画監督クエンティン・タランティーノ監督の映画「キル・ビル」(2003年)で彼らをライブ演奏に招待した。
Just two stops from Shinjuku on the Keio Line, Morgan Salon is the personal music/art studio of Morgan Fisher, a resident of Tokyo since 1985. Morgan is a British keyboard player and has played with many well-known bands since the 70's, including Mott the Hoople and Queen, and Japanese artists Yoko Ono, Haruomi Hosono, Yellow Monkey, The Boom, Kina Shoukichi and others. From 2003 to 2013 he performed a series of 100 solo ambient improv shows at Superdeluxe (Nishi-Azabu), featuring his collection of vintage analog keyboards and projections of his abstract light paintings. In 2013 he began a new series of solo concerts in his studio. He also invites other musicians and artists to give performances there, in the spirit of the salons of Paris in the 20's, or the lofts of New York in the 60's.
