[Band biography]

Arakoi (a.k.a. Arakajime Kimerareta Koibito Tachi e, meaning “For Pre-determined Lovers”) is a Japanese instrumental band formed in 1997.

Shoji Ikenaga started Arakoi as his solo project and eventually became a band in 2000s. Arakoi has been labeled as dub music in early years, but they recently incorporate influences from a wide variety of music as post-rock, techno, shoegazer and even from noise music.Ikenaga (he majored in visual arts and movies) composes and produces many movie scores.

It makes Arakoi’s music emotionally expressive and the band is sometimes acclaimed as a “cinematic dub” band with their uniqueness.

Arakoi have a reputation as a live band and performed at major music festivals as Fuji Rock, Summersonic, Rising Sun, Asagiri Jam, etc.
