Hello friends, Samm Bennett here, with an invitation to come hear my band, King Cake Baby. We bring that good ol' New Orleans Mardi Gras spirit and sound to Tokyo, don'tcha know, and we're very psyched to be playing, for the first time, a very cool and funky venue in wonderful, eccentric Asakusa, called Cuzn Homeground. I sat in on percussion recently there, with a friend's band, and the atmosphere was just fun and lively as all get out! A great mix of foreigners (many just passing through town, backpackers and such, staying at the hostel just above the joint) and Asakusa locals. So come join keyboard wiz Matt G and I for a musical good time, and we'll have the great Jeff Curry on bass for this one! Jeff really tears it up!
As ever, we'll be doing music made famous by folks like Dr John, the Meters, Professor Longhair, Huey "Piano" Smith... plus a few of our originals here and there. Come on down!
Music from 8PM to 10PM.
Entry: PASS THE HAT for music! Pay as you're able!
Cuzn Homeground, located on a pedestrian shopping street (shotengai) in the Asakusa area of Tokyo, is a relatively spacious bar and restaurant that occasionally features live music as well as DJ nights. Guinness and Heartland are on tap at the fully stocked bar, food is available, and the atmosphere is friendly and lively, with a mix of Asakusa locals and foreign visitors from some of the nearby hostels often passing through. Staff is mostly English-speaking.
