Blues Night: Yo Tokunaga, CK & Friends, Hiball Suzuki and his band

Details

Triple-Bill Friday Blues Night at Giee in Kokubunji!!

If you are a blues fan, please come out to the college town of Kokubunji to join us this Friday evening at this cozy and friendly hideaway bar with live music. We have a quite unusual lineup: Yo Tokunaga, a solo blues singer and keyboard player; CK & Friends, with CK, a singer and harmonica player and the  blues queen of the Chuo Line well known for her smokey voice, who used to perform more often at The Pink Cow and other bars and restaurants; and the sax fronted blues band from Saitama, Hiball Suzuki and his band. Suzuki the sax player is just great, and you will surely enjoy his band's jump blues.

The venue is very friendly managed by Giee Mama, who can cook various home made dishes.

We speak English.  See you there!

Details

Giee, whose name came from the sound of an opening door, is one of those very homey all-genre live music venues with a "mama" located in the college town of Kokubunji along the Chuo line. When you open the door, you see a rather small place that looks like somebody's living room with musical equipment. There is a full set of drums but no extremely loud music is allowed. Also worth mentioning is that this venue is NON-SMOKING. Smokers are supposed to smoke outside. The female owner, Ms. Miwa, loves music and cooks nice homey food for you too. It's a very friendly place, so please do not hesitate to open the door and step in.

Phone:  042-326-0770

It's only a few minute walk from the North Exit of the Kokubunji station.

Take the street right outside the North exit, turn right, walk straight to pass Tsutaya on your left, and turn left at the next corner, walk down the hill, and Giee is on the right hand side.
