Miya and Benedict met in London in 2010 in the London experimental and improvising music scene. Since then they have had numerous musical dialogs not only in England and Japan but covering a lot of ground including a contribution in a tour with an Indian Band KENDRAKA which performes a fusion of contemporarily Hindu music and Jazz which took place in India and Malaysia.
Having different musical backgrounds, the duo has a synergistic effect and is notable for the possibilities to opening new boundaries to the sound scape produced by the use of traditional instruments.
In the Duo tour for 2017, Miya and Benedict will be playing in landmark venues of contemporary / experimental music in Japan, inviting leading musicians of Japan’s music scenes as guests. Small ensemble’s will be held in venues such as Meg/ Airgin / Kissasakaiki. This will be an opportunity to experience the forefront music of Japan and England. In addition, world wide active improvisers from Japan will gather to Shinjuku Pit inn to Join a conducted small improvised orchestra. Benedict and Miya have been working on conduction with various improvised orchestras, in London / Berlin and Tokyo, and on this occasion they will be joined with individual and attractive musicians to create an original sound of Tokyo. This is an rare opportunity to witness the methods of conduction which is spreading world wide.
